A Active Window: In the Windows Operating system an active window is the current window that you are working on. The Windows in the background are not active. Access: To obtain or retrieve information from a storage device. You can access a hard drive to use files that are stored there. You can access a cd drive to see the contents of a disc in the cd drive. Access time: This is how long it takes to access information on a storage device. Adapter: An add-on or inbuilt circuit board that is attached to your motherboard to give additional capabilities to your computer. For example most computers have a network adapter that will let you connect to the internet.
